Starting is hard, with so much to do and learn, it can feel off putting, but it sometimes takes only a little push to motivate your first steps. You may have the best idea for a business in the world, but until you do something about it, it will stay just that – an idea.
A few years ago, I found out about a guy called Ze Frank. Now the chief research and development officer for BuzzFeed, He launched to fame in 2001, when he created an online birthday invitation and sent it to his friends. The invite went viral, generating millions of hits to his personal website, launching his career as a digital content pioneer.
Since then, Ze has spoken at a number of TED talks, with his presentations ranging from crowd sourced song writing and online mass participation projects, to the effect of the internet on culture and us as humans.
In addition, Ze became a professor at NYU, started an online community and has a hugely popular Youtube site, inspiring thousands of people with his content about mental health and what it takes to survive modern life.
In his video, “Invocation for beginnings”, he tackles how to motivate yourself to take your first steps. Starting can be difficult and starting a new business may be one of the most difficult things you ever do. Remember, “your pencils are sharp enough”, grab your cheese monster and begin.
